Somnolyze is committed to protecting your privacy. This document describes the data processed and the choices available to you.

TL;DR. Audio is analysed live on your iPhone and immediately discarded — no recording is ever kept. Nothing leaves your device unless you enable iCloud sync. No ads, no third-party tracking.

1. Principles

No audio recording is kept. The microphone stream is processed in buffers of about 93 ms (4096 samples at 44.1 kHz) immediately replaced by the next buffer; no audio file is created. Only abstract categories (snoring, speech, movement, etc.) are saved.
No data is sent to remote servers unless you enable iCloud sync.
No advertising, no third-party tracking.

2. Data processed

Somnolyze processes the following information:

Sleep data: phases, duration, score, classified sound events.
Health data (with your permission): phases recorded by Apple Watch, heart rate, variability — read and written via HealthKit.
Preferences: first name, desired schedule, app settings.
Sensor data: sound (analysed locally, not recorded), accelerometer.

3. Storage

Sessions are stored:

Locally in Apple's Health database (HealthKit), protected by your passcode and encrypted by iOS.
Optionally in your private iCloud via NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore (synced key-value pairs encrypted by iCloud), accessible only by you.

iCloud mode is disabled by default. You can enable or disable it from the app's Settings.

4. Sharing

We do not sell, rent or share any data with third parties. Data stays on your device and, if you allow it, in your personal iCloud account.

5. Microphone

Microphone access is required for sound detection. Audio is analysed live then immediately discarded. No audio file is created, kept or transmitted.

6. Subscription

For in-app purchases, Apple handles the transaction. We only receive your subscription status (active or not), without any payment data. See Apple's privacy policy for details.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection. To exercise these rights, contact support@somnolyze.app. Your local data can be removed by uninstalling the app. Your iCloud data can be erased from iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.

8. Retention

Local data remains on the device for as long as the app is installed. iCloud data remains until manually erased.

9. Minors

Somnolyze is not intended for children under 13. No data is knowingly collected about them.
